Desktop App for Windows v3.25.1 - Miscellaneous Improvements$$$External Release Notes: Desktop App for Windows 3.25.1 (May 28; 2025)$$$$$$Issues Addressed$$$Conflict Copy Generation by Smart Cache$$$A bug caused outdated file information after editing and saving certain files when using Smart Cache. The application now accurately tracks file changes during the save process; ensuring uploads are always associated with the correct file; preventing stale file entries in the local cache.$$$$$$System Resource Lockups and Access Issues on Windows$$$A deadlock in configuration access has been fixed. Previously; specific lock acquisition sequences could lead to a system freeze when multiple operations attempted to access configuration settings simultaneously. It resulted in application freezes and crashes.$$$$$$Improved Search Error Message for Exceeding Limit Queries$$$The Desktop App previously showed a misleading message—This search can’t be performed now. Please try again later.—when users entered a search query exceeding 100 characters. This message has been corrected to match the behavior of Web UI: Please enter a search query with at most 100 characters.$$$$$$Improved Handling of File Changes During Uploads$$$The application now correctly tracks file changes during the upload process; ensuring files are reprocessed when they are moved or edited mid-upload. This prevents issues where modified files were not properly updated; maintaining accurate upload behavior and file integrity.$$$$$$Known Issues Or Limitations$$$No new limitations have been discovered..$$$$$$Refer - https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/en-us/articles/36910483272077-Desktop-App-for-Windows-v3-25-1-Miscellaneous-Improvements

Desktop App for Windows v 3.24.0 - Improved Co-editing Experience$$$$$$New Features And Improvements$$$Improved Co-Editing Experience For Files With Upload In Progress$$$Enhanced the co-editing experience for cases where a file hasn’t finished uploading to the cloud. Previously; users would see a generic error message asking them to try again later. Now; when opening such a file for co-editing; users will see a new pop-up with a progress bar showing the file upload status.$$$$$$Note$$$This improvement doesn’t apply to folders synced for offline access.$$$$$$Context Menu Option Renamed To ‘View Online’$$$Renamed the context menu option View in Cloud to View Online for better clarity and consistency with user expectations.$$$$$$Issues Addressed$$$Desktop Configuration Profile - Custom Access URL Deployment Issue$$$Applying a Desktop Configuration Profile containing a Custom Access URL caused the deployment to fail. The configuration is now properly respected during mass deployment.$$$$$$Lock State Alternating After File Save in BricsCAD$$$Saving .dwg files in BricsCAD caused file locks to alternate on each save. The locking mechanism now correctly maintains the intended lock state during and after the save process.$$$$$$Log Collection Crashes$$$Log collection tool consumed excessive memory; sometimes causing the app to crash. This also prevented log files from being zipped and sent to support. The process is now more stable and reliable.$$$$$$File With Unsupported Characters Stuck in Upload Loop$$$Files with unsupported characters like a tilde ~ at the end of the name were getting stuck in an endless upload loop. These files will now be properly skipped.$$$$$$ $$$$$$Known Issues Or Limitations$$$Co-Editing Not Triggered When Using ‘Save As’ In Office$$$When using Save As in Office to save a file to Egnyte Drive via Browse or This PC; the file will be saved; but co-editing will not initiate. This occurs due to a limitation in Microsoft Office’s integration behavior.$$$$$$Please refer to this article for more details on this and other known limitations.

This enhancement provides greater flexibility for organizations and users who need to maintain legacy configurations or specific workflows requiring these drive letters.$$$$$$Enhanced Notifications for Lost Folder Access$$$We have improved messaging and notifications when a user attempts to access a file path they no longer have permission to. Issues Addressed$$$Improved Version History For .DWG Files In BricsCAD$$$Version history was not maintained for .dwg files in BricsCAD due to the software’s save process. Versioning is now properly retained and .bak files are excluded from cloud uploads.$$$$$$Improved Chrome Download Handling In Restricted Permission Folders$$$Users faced permission errors when downloading files from certain websites to Egnyte folders with read-write access. Chrome can now save temporary files properly; ensuring smooth downloads without errors.$$$$$$‘File In Use’ Error When Co-Editing$$$Resolved an issue where users saw a File In Use pop-up in Microsoft Office when opening a file for co-editing; even when no one else was editing it. This fix ensures the file is automatically unlocked if the Desktop App holds the lock before starting co-edit mode.$$$$$$Delay In File Syncing On Offline Sync$$$An issue caused delays in syncing files to local machines when using offline sync. Even after a file was updated and unlocked on the cloud; some users continued to open an outdated version on their local device. $$$$$$Lock Files Not Deleting For Terramodel And AutoCAD$$$Temporary lock files created by Terramodel and AutoCAD applications were not being deleted when saving files to the Desktop App drive; requiring manual deletion to continue working.$$$$$$Error When Using Offline Folders With Astrill VPN$$$Users running Astrill VPN encountered an error when using offline folders; preventing folder synchronization.$$$$$$Access Denied Error When Saving Mathcad Files$$$Resolved an issue where saving Mathcad files caused an access denied error due to unexpected file restoration. Special handling for .xmcd files now ensures proper versioning and prevents conflicts.$$$$$$Issue Causing Excessive Conflict Copies$$$Under specific conditions; an issue caused files to be assigned an incorrect version number on the local machine. This led to repeated conflict copies being created upon upload; as the server did not recognize the version and assumed an edit conflict.$$$$$$Temporary Files Consuming Excess Disk Space$$$The Desktop App was generating temporary files (_share.xxxxxxxxxx.thread_0000) during chunk upload or download for offline folders. In some cases; due to connection failures and antivirus interference; these files were not deleted properly; leading to excessive disk space consumption.$$$$$$Known Issues Or Limitations - No new limitations have been discovered.
