Company Solves SCCM 2007 End-of-Support and Eliminates Need for Server Infrastructure

BELLEVUE, Wash., April 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE)Adaptiva, a leading provider of add-ins for Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), today announced the availability of its Content Push Policy to simplify enterprise migrations to SCCM 2012. As part of Adaptiva’s OneSite solution, Content Push Policy streamlines the client migration from SCCM 2007 by eliminating the need for server infrastructure while transferring the SCCM 2012 client only once over the WAN to each operating location.

When Microsoft ends support of SCCM 2007 onJuly 8, 2014, many businesses depending on it will urgently plan a move to SCCM 2012, if they have not already. With OneSite’s Content Push Policy, organizations running SCCM 2007 are able to deploy SCCM 2012 in a fraction of the time while cutting significant infrastructure costs. Additionally, OneSite installs the SCCM 2012 client and all of its prerequisites without using distribution points (DPs).

“With the end of life for SCCM 2007 nearing, it’s imperative for companies to make the move to SCCM 2012,” said Deepak Kumar, founder and CTO of Adaptiva. “System migration involves a lot of data. Content Push Policy simplifies and speeds migration, in most cases by orders of magnitude. It also substantially accelerates new SCCM 2012 installations.”

Content Push Policy features and benefits include:

  • Efficiency: Content Push Policy flips all SCCM clients to the new environment within minutes.
  • Execution: Allows software to be downloaded, unpacked, distributed and executed all outside of SCCM.
  • Office Push: Post-migration, Office Push automatically selects a specified number of the most suitable machines, becoming pivotal in content delivery. For example, Content Push Policy will select the five best machines in each location for pre-staging.

Using OneSite, administrators looking to migrate to SCCM 2012 benefit from predictive bandwidth harvesting (PBH) for WAN optimization. PBH looks at when the WAN will be congested, in milliseconds, and sends data only when it will not interfere with other business-critical traffic. Content already cached at operating locations in the 2007 environment will remain in the 2012 environment, avoiding massive “re-downloading” WAN traffic. Users also benefit from an intelligent virtual SAN at each location, without requiring new disk capacity or taking up disk space from end users. Further, OneSite eliminates the need for PXE servers with peer-to-peer PXE.
