About this role
We are seeking a Junior System Administrator to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting our IT infrastructure and systems. This position involves daily administration of systems, networks, and end-user support. You will collaborate closely with the Director of IT & Security to implement and maintain secure, reliable, and efficient technology solutions that support our business operations.

Responsibilities
Systems Administration
- Maintain and support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and Windows server operating systems.
- Configure and manage virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware).
- Monitor and maintain server health, backups, and system performance.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades.
Network Administration
- Assist with the management and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN networks, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VoIP systems.
- Identify and resolve network issues in coordination with vendors when needed.
- Support VPN configuration and remote access troubleshooting for employees.
Endpoint Support
- Provide technical support to end users for hardware, software, and network issues (e.g., laptops, peripherals, printers).
- Configure and deploy devices, ensuring compliance with IT and security standards.
- Maintain an inventory of IT assets, ensuring all equipment is properly tracked and updated.
Security & Monitoring
- Assist in implementing security best practices across IT systems and endpoints.
- Monitor security alerts and escalate incidents to the Director of IT & Security as needed.
- Ensure anti-virus, endpoint protection, and patch management systems are up to date.
IT Infrastructure Projects
- Assist in IT infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Collaborate with the IT and Security Manager to implement new systems and improve existing solutions.
- Document configurations, processes, and procedures for ongoing operations and knowledge sharing.
Vendor Coordination
- Work with vendors to procure IT hardware and software.
- Coordinate warranty claims, repairs, and replacements for IT equipment.
General IT Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain backups of key systems to ensure business continuity.
- Proactively identify and resolve recurring technical issues.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for routine IT tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in IT systems administration, network support, or similar roles.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and server management.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Basic understanding of network concepts and troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, firewalls, switches).
- Experience with endpoint management tools like Microsoft Intune is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a proactive mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals) are a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $80,000. The range provided is broad and takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are reviewed when making a hiring decision, such as years of experience, skills, location, and other business needs.
The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a performance bonus and very generous benefits.
